Hamburg, the "Gateway to the World"
After DAGA 2001 and INTER-NOISE 2016, DAGA 2023 is another acoustic highlight dropping anchor in the northern German metropolis. The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg has been characterized by its port for centuries. More than 40% of Germany's seaborne cargo is handled via Europe's third-largest container port and Germany's largest seaport, making Hamburg Germany's "gateway to the world" in the truest sense of the word. The granting of port rights in 1189 and the flourishing Hanseatic era led to a lively exchange with a wide variety of cultures and contacts throughout the world. This openness and networking has shaped the city over centuries and can still be felt and experienced today. Together with its northern German cordiality, Hamburg thus offers an ideal setting for the annual gathering and exchange of the large acoustic community from Germany and neighboring countries.
However, not only the maritime flair attracts the many visitors of Hamburg. Between the Alster and the Elbe, Germany's second-largest city offers a lively urban flair that invites visitors to stroll and linger. With the imposing Elbphilharmonie, the legendary Reeperbahn and the quaint fish market, there are real highlights that you can't experience anywhere else. The proximity to the water, the many green spaces, the short distances and the combination of the hippest new trends and old Hanseatic traditions make Hamburg a destination worth experiencing all around.
DAGA 2023 will take place at the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH). Due to its location in the heart of Hamburg between the Alster lake, the "Planten un Bloomen" park and the city center, there are excellent connections to local and long-distance public transport. In the immediate vicinity are many overnight accommodations as well as various culinary and tourist discoveries. After several years of extensive modernization, the CCH itself presents itself as one of the largest and most modern event centers in Europe and offers sufficient space and all imaginable amenities for an all-around successful DAGA.
Together with our team, we are very much looking forward to welcoming you soon in Hamburg and being your hosts for DAGA 2023!
